HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR HANDMADE JEWELRY

The difference between polished copper and brass versus patina

Aluminum/Stainless Steel :

Aluminum is hypoallergenic, will not tarnish, rust, or turn skin green. Keep your items away from corrosive materials and chemicals. Aluminum can be washed in soapy water and rinsed. After washing, thoroughly dry your piece. Do not use other cleaners, as they can damage the metal. A soft chemical free polishing cloth can be used to polish.

Brass :

Brass is prone to water spots, dry your piece if it gets wet. Do not store in a humid environment. Wipe your jewelry clean before storing it.The best place to store your Brass piece is in a sealed ziploc bag with the included anti-tarnish paper. Use a soft chemical-free polishing cloth to give it a nice shine. Keep your Brass jewelry away from chemicals like perfumes, sprays, lotions & sanitizers. For best results, use different storage bags for different metals.

Copper :

Copper will naturally patina and can leave a green mark on your skin. This is natural and not dangerous. The green mark can be easily washed from your skin. Keeping your Copper jewelry clean will help prevent it from turning your skin green. To keep clean, wipe your jewelry after you take it off & before storing it. Store your pieces in a sealed ziploc bag w/the anti-tarnish paper to keep it safe from the elements. Limit contact with water and when it does get wet, dry thoroughly. You can use a soft chemical-free polishing cloth to give it a nice shine. Keep your jewelry away from harsh chemicals (lotions, perfume, sprays & sanitizers). Use different storage bags for different metals, do not mix items.

How to touch up your stamped items:

Over time, the acrylic paint in the impressions can fade. The alcohol in hand sanitizers will speed this process. You can easily darken the impressions again using a Sharpie marker. Wipe off the excess color with a little bit of rubbing alcohol and there you go! As good as new.

How to extend the life of your jewelry:

Use a chemical-free polishing cloth or a clean cotton ball to wipe your jewelry.

Keep jewelry away from harsh chemicals, oils, sprays and makeup. A good rule of thumb is to always put your jewelry on last, after applying lotions and perfumes.

Do not wear jewelry to swim, in the shower or to work out. If you forget to remove your jewelry and it gets wet, rinse it off and wipe dry.

If your piece gets dirty, wash with mild soap and cool water and dry. Wipe your pieces clean before storing in a sealed plastic ziploc bag. You can store your pieces with anti tarnish paper. Separate your items from other jewelry so it doesn't get scratched.

How to use anti-tarnish paper:

Anti-tarnish strips protect Silver, Gold, Copper, Brass, Bronze and plated jewelry from tarnishing by neutralizing the gases that cause tarnish. Ensure items are clean and place them together with the strip in a dry sealed container. You can place your items in a ziploc bag. Each strip will provide about 1 year of protection, depending on how well sealed the container is.
