BioThane® Cleaning 101: Keeping Your Gear Fresh
One of the best things about BioThane® dog gear is that it’s incredibly durable. Unlike stinky nylon or high-maintenance leather, BioThane® is 100% waterproof and antimicrobial. That means no matter how much mud your pup finds, their gear won't end up smelling like a wet dog.
Here’s how to get that "brand new" look in under two minutes:
1. The Quick Rinse
For most adventures, a simple warm water rinse does the trick. Since BioThane® is non absorbant, dirt and grime just slide right off the surface.
2. The Deep Clean
If things got really messy on the trail, grab some mild dish soap and a sponge. Give it a quick scrub, rinse it off, and you're good to go. It’s that easy.
3. Hardware Care
We use solid brass and stainless steel hardware because it’s tough and rust-proof. Brass might develop a natural patina over time (which looks great!), but if you want it to sparkle, a quick wipe with a brass cleaner will bring back that original shine.
4. What to Skip
Just a heads-up: skip the bleach and the dishwasher. BioThane® is tough, but harsh chemicals and high heat aren't its friends. A simple towel dry is all you need before your next trek.
