Why I Choose the Hammer: The Heart Behind Hand-Stamping 🔨

When I started The Houndsmith, I had a choice: buy a fancy laser machine that does the work for me, or pick up a hammer and steel stamps. I chose the hammer. Here’s why I love doing things the "hard way" for your pup:
Deep-Set Memories: Laser engraving just "burns" the surface, which can fade as the years go by. Hand stamped tags have deep grooves physically hammered into the metal.
Built for Real Love: Most laser tags have to be thin so the machine can read them. Because I do this by hand, I can use extra-thick brass and aluminum. They have a soulful, heavy weight to them and are hypoallergenic.
A Piece of My Heart: A laser tag is perfectly centered and, honestly, a little robotic. Hand stamped tags are unique. A letter might be a hair higher or a stamp slightly deeper—that’s the beauty of handmade. It shows that an actual human put real care into something made just for your best friend.
The Bottom Line: If you want a tag that’s "fine for now," go laser. But if you want a keepsake that survives muddy trails and happy zoomies—you want the hammer.
